SMP Connect Support
What the App Does
SMP Connect helps a compatible PlayStation or Xbox Minecraft Bedrock client connect to NinjiSMP, DonutSMP or a custom Bedrock server by creating a temporary local-network Bedrock/LAN endpoint on an Android phone.
Before You Start
- Connect the Android phone and console to the same local Wi-Fi/LAN network.
- Make sure Minecraft Bedrock is installed and updated on the console.
- Make sure any console subscription required for online multiplayer is active.
- Do not use a guest Wi-Fi network that isolates devices from each other.
How to Connect
- Open SMP Connect.
- Choose NinjiSMP, DonutSMP or Custom.
- For Custom, enter a valid Bedrock hostname/address and port and save it.
- Tap the Connect button.
- On Android 13+, decide whether to allow notifications when Android asks on first connection use.
- Open Minecraft on the console and find the SMP Connect entry under LAN games/worlds.
- Select it and wait for the console to be transferred to the selected server.
Foreground-Service Notification
While the temporary connection service is active, Android may show an ongoing notification titled “SMP Connect is active”. This indicates that the local network service is running while you switch to Minecraft. You can tap the notification to return to the app or use its Stop action to stop the connection service.
If notification permission is denied on Android 13+, Android itself controls where the foreground-service notice appears. Denying notification permission does not grant SMP Connect extra access and should not cause the connection service to crash.
Troubleshooting
- If the LAN entry does not appear, stop the connection, restart Minecraft and reconnect.
- Make sure phone and console remain on the same network during LAN discovery.
- Some routers block multicast or device-to-device traffic. Disable AP/client isolation or use a normal private LAN.
- If switching servers, wait for SMP Connect to finish closing the previous LAN session before joining the new one.
- For a custom server, verify the hostname and Bedrock port.
Third-Party Server Support
SMP Connect can point a console to external servers, but it does not operate every server it can connect to. For server-specific gameplay, account, moderation, purchase or availability issues, contact that server's operator. DonutSMP is a third-party service and is not operated by Trafficmanagers B.V.
